Good day dear listeners and welcome again to overcoming temptations, My name is Oyisi Okatahi. Today our topic is titled “The power of an idea”. One of the greatest things that God can bless you with is a powerful inspired idea. Someone said “Ideas rule the world”. Many things that we see in the physical world are usually received by divine or God given inspiration and ideas. There are so many problems in this world and anyone who has an idea that can solve these problems will be rewarded. Let us look at a man in the Bible called Joseph in Genesis 41, Pharaoh the king of Egypt had a dream that he was standing by the river Nile, and out of the river came out seven cows very healthy and fat and then seven other cows very ugly and thin came out of the same river. Then the cows that were ugly and slim ate up the healthy and fat cows. However what was surprising was that even after the thin cows ate up the fat cows they still remained ugly and slim, there was no evidence that they had eaten the fat cows. Pharoah had another similar dream but this time it was not cows it was grain, where 7 bad head of grain ate up 7 good head of grain and did not look like they had eaten them. So Pharaoh called all the magicians and wise men in the kingdom, but none of them could interpret the dream. However Pharaohs cupbearer remembered that there was a Hebrew slave he met in prison called Joseph who was gifted by God in interpreting dream. Immediately Pharaoh sent for Joseph. Now Joseph told Pharaoh the meaning of the dreams and also told him that God was the revealer of the meaning. That the 7 fat cows and 7 good grain represent 7 years of abundance and plenty in the land of Eygpt. Then the ugly and thin cows and grain represents 7 years of famine and scarcity that will follow the 7 years of abundance. The 7 years of famine will be so severe and difficult that the seven years of abundance will be quickly forgotten. So what made Joseph great was not just that he could interpret the dream but that he also suggested a solution to the problem. This was the power of an idea. He told Pharaoh that during the 7 years of plenty that he should take 1/5 of the harvest and save it in a storage place, so that this can be used during the 7 years of famine or hunger. It was only God that could reveal such a thing to Joseph. So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all the Kingdom and made him second only to Pharaoh himself. Since only Egypt had prepared for the 7 years of famine, Joseph became one of the most powerful men in the world because people from other nations came to Egypt to buy food.
Let us also take a look at Dubai. Dubai discovered oil in mid 1960s , they understood that they had limited reserves of oil. Crude Oil is a natural resources so this means that it depletes and will Finish one day, it will not last forever. So the leaders of Dubai understood this, so they used their oil wealth to invest in tourism, real estates and financial services, so that when the oil revenue reduces or finishes they will have something to fall back to. So that it exactly what happened today tourism, real estates and financial services dominate as sources of revenue for Dubai as the oil is almost finished. This is the benefit of having a good idea and implementing it. On the contrary Nigeria discovered oil since the 1950s, for over 50 years of oil exploration and production; we have little to show for it. No vision, no ideas. And someday this oil will finish. What what shall we leave behind for our children?
So ideas rule the world, we need to ask God to give us divine ideas and also implement them. You may be having a problem and you think that the problem is money or you need a helper. Ask God for an inspired idea, it will create the money and help that you need to solve the problem. With little resources but good strategy you can still achieve much.
People are looking for solution to problems, so when you have an idea that can solve problems, you get results. People don’t want liability they want people that can contribute to them.
May the Lord bless you will good ideas in Jesus name. have a blessed day.
