Good day and welcome to overcoming temptations. My name is Oyisi. I like to sincerely thank all our volunteers for their attendance and commitment, I pray that as you do the work of God, He will reward you in Jesus name.
Today our topic is titled “The Pastors Child”. If your parents are Pastors or Strong Believers then this message is for you. In several cases you find out that the children of great preachers do not end up being like them, of course there are cases where children take after their parents who are pastors, but in many case you see rebellion in the life of many children whose parents are strong Christians. There are several theories that have been attributed to be the cause such as pastors are so busy so they don’t have time for their families. Yes this could be one reason, but I want share what I think is the major reason and that is the lust of this world.
The greatest talent of Satan, if you can call it a talent, is deception, the truth is that no evil has power over you, they only try to control you by deception. Deception or to deceive means to make someone believe something that is not true. It means to lie. For instance some men promise women marriage just to sleep with them, and once they have slept with them they abandon them, even at the point of promising marriage they knew they were not interested, it was just a strategy of deception.
So for children of strong believers the greatest trick of Satan is deception, he makes you to think that serving God is too boring and that you are missing out on the things of life such as partying, clubbing, drinking, and having sex. Satan makes sin look so attractive so as to entice the simple minded, and as you know he has only 3 objectives according to John 10:10 and that is to steal, to kill and to destroy.
Let me share a story as contained in Luke 15:11-18, I read from the Good news translation- Jesus went on to say, “There was once a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the property now.’ So the man divided his property between his two sons. 13 After a few days the younger son sold his part of the property and left home with the money. He went to a country far away, where he wasted his money in reckless living. 14 He spent everything he had. Then a severe famine spread over that country, and he was left without a thing. 15 So he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him out to his farm to take care of the pigs. 16 He wished he could fill himself with the bean pods the pigs ate, but no one gave him anything to eat. 17 At last he came to his senses and said, ‘All my father’s hired workers have more than they can eat, and here I am about to starve! 18 I will get up and go to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against God and against you.
So we see in the story that the younger son was not contented with the life he had, unknowing to him, it was the best life. He taught he was missing out something, so he went and spent his money on all kinds of things like prostitutes, drinking, gambling, partying and so on. But eventually the money finished, and the same person who was the main man, the hit man, the hero, the king pin, began to struggle for food with pigs. See what the bible says in Luke 15:17 .It says at last he came to his senses, that means all along he was out of his mind, he was senseless. He now acknowledged that he has sinned against God and his father and he repented, and also God and his father forgave him. The moral of the story is that if you are a child of strong Christians hold on to the heritage and doctrine your parents gave you, sin especially fornication looks very attractive but in the end it is sorrow and misery. Believe me, you are not loosing out on anything by not having sex before marriage. Don’t try the way of the world, it is only full of sorrow and regret. It is only the deception of Satan, may the Lord help you and grant you grace in Jesus name.
