Hello Dear Listeners, welcome to overcoming temptations. My name is Oyisi Okatahi. Today our topic is titled: The limitations of God.
What do I mean by Gods limitation, is this some kind of heretic teaching or what? No it is not I believe in God and the bible shows that God is omnipotent all power, omniscience all knowing, omnipresent, everywhere. Yet God has a limitation. God cannot lie. Lying, falsehood, deception is something God cannot do. Hebrews 6:18 says that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might[a] have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
You like me may have been disappointed in life by human beings, they tell you something and you believe them but you know men can always break their promises, sometimes because they never intended to fulfill it, other times circumstances beyond their control prevented them from fulfilling it. If you keep trusting in men then you are sure to be disappointed again and again. But it’s not so with God, His word has and can never fail. Even if it takes several generations to accomplish His word, it will eventually come to pass. You see Sarah and Abraham were beyond the natural years of having children, but God promised them. At a point in time they were tired of waiting Sarah even laughed when the angels told her that she will still conceive, but because God does not lie they still gave birth to their promised son Isaac. The thing there is that God does not need any body help him to fulfill his promises. He is not limited by time or space. You can promise someone a job, but you will tell them that only if an opportunity exists in the company or organization, so you are limited by opportunity, you can promise someone to marry them but only if your parents agree to the marriage, so you are limited by parental consent. But for God to fulfill His promises, he does not need to take permission from anyone. He will do it because he does not lie. On the contrary satan is the father of lies, everything he tells you he does not do, yet people keep believing him. He tells you that you can cheat or steal to get money, yet he makes you lose it in other ways like spending on illness, insecurity and wasteful spending. He tells you that when you are in love it is okay to have sex outside marriage, yet he ensures that the relationship does not work out and you end up in regret. He tells people to take innocent blood, yet he plans their death for the same evil deeds they have done. There is no one who has pursued wickedness that was not destroyed by it in the end, yet people still believe in evil. What a mystery because satan has blinded them from the truth. The bible says resist the devil and he will flee, so when he brings evil thoughts to your mind resist them in Jesus name.
So God does not lie, if he said it He will do. Just make sure that it is God who actually said it and not just your thoughts and every word from God is consistent with the bible. He may not do it in the way you expect, but He will do it in His own way and at His own time, and his timing is always perfect, it may seems slow but it is the right time. So I encourage you believe in God even in a world where it may not be popular to believe in God but rather to get things through human scheming. But don’t worry God will not fail you, trust in Him and don’t mix your faith in Him with any other thing, if you are going to trust God then it needs to be total trust. It is impossible for God to lie. Have a blessed day.
