Good day dear listeners and welcome again to overcoming temptations. I wish you God’s grace and favour in Jesus name. Today our topic is titled “Maximize the Season.
Now in Genesis 6 – 9 We read about Noah and the flood. The world was extremely wicked and ungodly so God decided to destroy everything he created apart from Noah and his family with some selected animals which went into a large Ark. Noah was a man who feared an obeyed God. After the flood cleared, Noah came out of the Ark and built an altar to the Lord where he sacrificed many clean animals.
When God smelt the sacrifice, God made in a promise in Genesis 8:22, it says – “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night, Shall not cease.” This is a powerful promise, it means that sometimes you will plant, but other times you will reap, some-times it will be cold for you, other times life will come hot, sometimes your life will be summer and happy, other times it will be winter or harmattan and cold, it means sometimes in life you will be in the day time when everything is bright and prosperous, other times it will be night when things are dark and difficult.
So it means that in life there is always a time for everything, this is what Ecclesiastes 3:1 says- To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.
I met a rich man while he was in the summer or day time of life, he had a very good job, and I remember telling him not to be extravagant or reckless but to invest the money he earned wisely because they was no guarantee that things will continue that way, but he laughed at me and said he knew what he was doing. About seven years later when I met him, things were different, he was struggling to do build a house that he could easily have built when he had much resources, he was now in the winter and night of life. He did not maximize the day time of life. To maximize the season does not mean you should steal or be fraudulent to acquire anything, all it means is that you should realize that you should do your best and invest whenever you have the opportunity without breaking the law. My Dad worked for about 33 years in the University, by the time he was retiring as an associate professor his entire gratuity could only fence the house we had already built. The house we were living in was the one he built as a student with some grants and loans he received. If he did not build that house, when he did he may never have been able to build it during his entire life time. So you need to maximize the season.
The truth is that life may never always be rosy and easy, I know some people do not like to hear this, but it is what God’s word says, but the secret is that if you prepare well in summer or day time then you will be ok in winter or night time. That is why the bible says in Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. So ants are amazing creatures, they are so wise that if summer you see them gathering food into their colony, they will store enough to last them in winter or harmattan, so the bible says we should learn from them. You may be holding an important political, organizational or religious position, remember that you will not be there forever, make the best of use of that position to help others, maximize the season. However do so legitimately. You may have aged parents or young children to cater for, take care of them with all your heart, because they will not always be with you. Even if you are unmarried and still trusting God for a husband or wife, maximize that moment, because there are things you cannot easily do when you are married. Wherever you find yourself maximize the season because, because it is only for a while.
Wish you a blessed day in Jesus name.
