I know we often hear that health is wealth, but when we are going through financial difficulties, struggling to pay house rent, school fees, buying food and so on, we tend not to consider the importance of this phrase.
So let us imagine you are the richest person in the world, you have houses, cars, family, clothes, food and abundance of money. However, imagine you are not healthy and have a sickness that causes you to lose your appetitive and makes you lie down in bed. At that point all your possessions will mean nothing because without good health you cannot enjoy them. The food is there but you cannot eat it, the cars are there but you cannot drive them, you have hundreds of shoes but cannot wear them. So no matter how much money you have, without good health you cannot enjoy it. See how the bible explain it in Ecclesiastes 6:2 “God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.”
Also 3rd John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” So the bible acknowledges that good health is part of prosperity. You cannot say you are prosperous if you are not healthy. Therefore health is wealth. This means that those of us who are healthy should not take it for granted. If you think you are poor, please visit a general hospital or private hospital and you will see people with all kinds of sickness, some of them have been on drip for months and are unable to eat, some have a pipe connected to their bodies as they are unable to use the toilet on their own. Then you will realize that if you are healthy you should be very thankful and grateful to God.
To be a healthy does not only mean your body should be healthy, it also means your soul, your mind and your spirit. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” So when you are joyful and happy you are healthy, but when you are consistently sad or depressed it is a sickness. Sometimes things do not work out for us in life; we are discouraged, disappointed, betrayed, shortchanged or disgraced. Life comes with many challenges.
So whether you are sick in the body, soul or spirit, the word of God has the power to heal you. Psalm 30:2 says, “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent out his word and healed them.” So God has the power to heal and make you whole. Now sometimes you may say, but we prayed and asked God for healing but our loved one stilled passed on. Then yes He is still God, because to live is Christ and to die is to gain. (Philippians 1:21.) So when a love one passes on even after we pray for healing, God is calling him or her home to rest from travails of this world and knows the time is best. It may be a loss to us, but it is a gain to heaven. This is what God considers best for the person who died in Christ.
So in summary, 1. Remember to be grateful, for your health it is more important than any amount of money your may have 2. Know that God’s words as contained in the bible can heal you of all physical or spiritual illness. 3. Know that if God allows someone to depart after praying for healing, it is the best because God works for our good in all things.
Health is wealth. Have a blessed day.
