Welcome to overcoming temptation my name is Oyisi our topic today is titled Give glory to God for your success.
In Genesis 41 we read that Pharaoh the king of Eygpt had dream and there was no one who was able to interpret it, all the wise men and magicians of Egypt were unable to provide a solution. One of Pharaohs servant the chief butler told pharaoh that while he was in prison there was a certain young named Joseph who helped him interpret his dream and told him that he will be released from Prison while the chief baker will be hanged and it happened exactly as Joseph had predicted. So Pharaoh ordered that Joseph be brought to him. See what the bible says in Genesis 41: 15-16. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” 16 So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”
So you see Joseph acknowledged that it was not him but God that gave him power to interpret dreams and indeed Joseph was able to interpret the dream and was promoted to the position of prime minister in the whole of Egypt.
In another occasion there was a very powerful king named Herod Agrippa. In Acts 12, I read from verse 21-23. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
So because Herod did not give glory to God, he was struck by an Angel and died.
Also in Daniel 4: 28-33 we read of another King called Nebuchadnezzar, the bible says 28 All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of the twelve months he was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. 30 The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”
31 While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! 32 And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”
33 That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
So like Herod King Nebuchadnezzar was humiliated when he refused to give glory to God. Whereas Joseph was promoted because he acknowledged God. What ever you posses, talents, wealth, beauty, intelligence and so on. Always acknowledge God as the source of all things. Never give the glory to yourself. When you humble yourself in Gods eyes in due season he will lift you up higher and higher . Have a blessed day.
