Good day dear listeners and welcome again to overcoming temptations. Wish you compliments of the season.
Today I will like to share with you on a Topic titled 4 wise things. I will take two of them today and the next two subsequently.
Our text is taking from the book of Proverbs 30: 24 – 28 and it says in verse 24 “Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise”. Now this verse put me on enquiry, the bible says that these four things though they are small yet they are very wise, and since I want to be wise I could learn from these things even though they are small. Now verse 25 says “Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer”. This is the law of preparation or planning, every great or wise person must have prepared himself of herself otherwise he or she would fail. If you have noticed that during summer or raining season you would see ants taking grains of food into their homes in anticipation of the winter or hammartan when food will become scarce. As small as they are they know that if they are going to survive through the winter they would have to prepare for it. So also in life you have to prepare for your future, today you may be rich and have a good job, but what happens tomorrow if you loose the job or business (now I know God forbid), however you must have a plan and investment in case of eventualities, even the bible says in Genesis 8: 22 that summer and winter will not cease, so life has its ups and downs.
Countries or companies that are successful or advanced achieve this because they plan ahead, they have 5- 10 -15 and even 20 years strategic plans. You can not just assume success, you have to plan towards it. For instance if you intend starting a business you should have a plan- how much will it cost, what location is suitable for the business, how many people will you need to employ, what can give you a competitive advantage and so on. You can’t just jump up one day and rent a shop and say you have started a business, it is bound to fail. So get a jotter or a notebook, write down your plans, follow them up, make adjustments when required, evaluate your performance so far. Remember when you fail to plan you plan to fail.
Now back to our passage verse 26 says coneys (or rabbits) are creatures of little power, yet they make their homes in the rocks. This is the law of preservation or protection, coneys or wild rabbits know that they are weak so they go and make their homes in rocks so that wild animals do not devour them. This is wisdom. A wise person will protect himself from his weaknesses. For instance if you are a man and you know you are very attracted to women then you will avoid them, there is no point in going to sister house alone even to do evangelism if you know that you are sexually weak. You must protect yourself by avoiding you weaknesses. Likewise if you are a sister and know you don’t have much self control you should avoid going to places where you know you can easily compromise, this is the law of preservation. Also If for instance you have a hot temper, then avoid arguments and avoid saying anything when you are angry. Because the coney or rabbit knows its weakness it protects itself, likewise always develop a strategy to protect yourself from your weaknesses, remember all men are fallible. The rabbit did not decide to hide itself in grass but in a rock, that rock for you should be Jesus Christ, so whenever you hide yourself in Christ and trust him to keep you safe from your weaknesses he will protect and preserve you. Remember like the rabbit to avoid a fall you should hide yourself in the rock.
The first law learnt from ants is the law of preparation or planning, while the second law is from the rabbit which is the law of preservation or protection. Have a blessed day.
