Good day and welcome to overcoming temptations. My name is Oyisi Okatahi. I like to sincerely thank all our volunteers for their attendance and commitment, I pray that as you do the work of God, He will reward in Jesus name.
Today our topic is titled “Fornication in the Church” This topic is for those who say we are Christians yet we are living a life of sexual immorality and disobeying the Word of God.
In those days, we hear of fornication only among unbelievers, people who are not born again, then later we hear that fornication started among Church goers and members of the congregation, then later fornication was among church workers like the choir, ushers and so on. But today fornication is among pastors in the Church. In fact I learnt that hotels record the highest patronage of pornographic channels when pastors are having their church conferences. This is the very reason people think that Christians are deceiving themselves. We who say we are born again and are committing fornication, how better are we than those unbelievers who are also committing fornication. Let me tell you there is no difference, don’t deceive yourself. To be born again is not a title like we have in Nigeria, every body is born again. To be born again is a way of life, it is about righteousness.
The Bible in 2 Timothy 3:5 says -having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
So today people just have a form of godliness and are pretending to be righteous, but they deny the power of God and are not living to please God. Today if you go to a hotel and a prostitutes tries to patronize you and you tell her that you are pastor, she will laugh and say her best customers are pastors. My heart is bleeding because it appears that Satan is taking over the church. But God forbid, you and I have to stop this impunity, we have to stop wickedness and tell people the truth. Mathew 16:18, Jesus says And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. So we have the promise that Satan will not prevail over us, but we must arise.
If you are Pastor, please tell people the truth, that fornication will destroy their souls, Satan gives them the impression that there is no big deal in fornication or adultery. But I tell you he who commits it destroys his own soul. Churches are multiplying in Nigeria so also is wickedness and immorality, it means the church is losing its relevance and becoming a social gathering. Pastors act fast. If you have only one member in your church on his or her way to heaven, it is better than 1 million on their way to destruction. The level of fornication and adultery in the church is alarming and only a few pastors are confronting it, most have decided to accept it as normal part of modernization. My beloved modernization will not change the standard of God, what was sin before is still sin today and will remain sin tomorrow. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
We appeal to you Church leaders, do not condone immorality in the House of God, expose it and speak against it. Don’t condemn or reject anyone in your church because of fornication, but you must confront it and lead the person to repentance. My prayer is that may you live a life that will bring glory to God a life free from fornication and God will surely reward and bless you in Jesus name. Have a blessed day.
