Good day dear listeners and welcome again to overcoming temptations, My name is Oyisi Okatahi. Today our topic is titled “Do not cast your pearls among pigs”.
Our bible reading is taken from Mathew 7:6 – “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Literally what does it mean to cast your pearls among pigs? It means that if you take a pig and clothe it in fine clothes and put on jewelry on it like diamond, gold and pearls. When you release the pig, it will go straight and look for mud and wallow in the mud. The pig is not going to appreciate that you gave it jewelry or pearls to wear. Pigs do not value such things.
So likewise it not everyone that will value your talents and gifts. Jesus is the Messiah, but even his people the Jews did not value or appreciate Him, so he decided to spread his message to the Gentiles and other people of the world who embraced and received it. Till today most Jews are still awaiting their messiah.
Apart from Jesus who came to die for the sins of all men. No one is sent to everybody, so you are sent to some people and you need to identify who these people are. Do not waste your time on people who do not appreciate or value you.
Jesus was sent to the Jews to save them. He is the messiah. But the Jews do not accept or recognize Jesus as their messiah, according to the Jewish bible, which is basically the old testament there are certain things that the messiah should have such as he must be born of virgin, be the descendant of King David, suffer for the sins of people, build the temple, bring world peace, and so on. Now Jesus fulfilled all the requirements but jews will debate it, because it did not happen at once and they do not believe in the second coming of Christ, where we know that Jesus will reign as King. Anyway their rejection of Jesus is the reason why we are Christians. In Acts 22.21 we read that God now sent Apostle Paul to the Gentiles and those who believed were saved. And that is how the gospel was preached to the whole word. However the jews will eventually accept Christ when the antichrist makes peace with them but later deceives and betrays them.
So this means that even God does not force himself on people, he will meet you, but if you reject Him, He will look for someone who will accept him. It is like a beautiful woman who gives all her love to a man, she cherishes him and gives him her whole heart, but the man will beat her up and cheat on her. Meanwhile there is another man out there who will love and cherish this woman and give his life for her sake. So why should she waste time and effort on someone who does not value her, it is casting of pearls among pigs. Edward 8 was the King of England and Emperor of the British Empire which included England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, India, Canada, and many African and other countries. He fell in love with an American divorcee, and he was told that as King and also the Head of the Church of England or Anglican Church worldwide he could not marry her since she was a divorcee and her ex-husbands were still alive. So Edward 8 resigned as King, or abdicated the throne. He forfeited the throne on England and Great Britain not only for himself but for his descendants. So for this same woman, two men had already divorced her before she met King Edward, so what those two men did not find as a good wife a King gave up his throne for her and he married her till he died. Imagined she had not married those other men and waited till she met the King, the story would have been different. Now I am not supporting divorce in anyway because the bible says that God hates divorce but the principle from the story is that you do not need to struggle where you are not appreciated when someone or some people somewhere are praying for someone like you and will celebrate you. Do not cast your pearls among pigs.
So don’t be discouraged with those who do not know your value. Just pray to God to help you find your place in life. Wish you blessed day in Jesus name.
