Does life appear to be unfair to those who do right and try to follow the ways of God? Sometimes you see people who obey God suffer, and people who do not fear God prosper. This is what David said in Psalm 37: 1-2, “Do not worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither.” So whatever is obtained through wrong means will not last and will eventually lead to sorrow.
So it may appear in life that those who cheat, pass exams, while those who work hard may not pass as well. The lady who sleeps with the boss gets promotion, while the righteous lady loses her job, the politician who uses thugs and rigs elections wins, while the one who refuses to rig loses, the man who bribes gets the contract, while he who refuses to bribe loses out, the man who jumps the queue gets attended to, while those who wait in the line are denied. So every day we see injustice and it appears that the evil win.
Now the bible helps us understand that the evil never win but only appear to win in a short term. Look what Ecclesiastes 8:11 says, “When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.” So the issue is that most times the reward or punishment for evil is not immediate so people usually feel they have gotten away with it. So why do not people put their hands in fire, because fire will burn them immediately and they fill the pain, but imagine if you put your hand in fire and it will burn you after one year, then people will not be afraid to put their hands in fire anymore. So the delay in punishment for evil deceives people that they will get away with it but this is not the case.
God told promised Noah in Genesis 8: 22-“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” So seedtime and harvest will not cease, never think you will plant evil and harvest good, it does not work. Sowing and reaping is a universal law, even atheists believe in it. Some call it the law of Karma, Scientist Isaac Newton called it the law of motion whereby for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Others call it the law of cause and effect. It is a law that cannot fail.
Let us take a look at history; I searched the internet for the most wicked people in human history. Names like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Ivan the Terrible, and Nero came out of my search. One thing was common to all of them, they did not have a good end, they all created negative memories for mankind. Also they were either killed, committed suicide, disgraced, or died of sickness. Above all they will answer to God for all their evil actions while on earth, of course many of them did not believe in life after death however, that does not change anything. The refusal to believe in the truth does not change it from being true.
So I want to encourage you, if you are doing good and obeying God keep it up and you will receive your reward, do not envy the wicked they will not escape God’s judgment. Meanwhile, for those who do wrong, I encourage you to change for your own good. God is not mocked but whatever you sow you shall reap. (Galatians 6:7). So repent and change your ways and the God of mercy will show you mercy. Have a blessed day.
