Welcome to overcoming temptation my name is Oyisi our topic today is titled: Choice determines your destiny.
I visited a friend of mine in the hospital and as she laid on her sick bed she told me that she had a very difficult life and she kept wondering why so many bad things happened to her. I told her that yes bad things do happen to righteous people however sometimes we suffer as a result of the choices we make in life. For instance I recall when I had advised her against taking drugs like marijuana or cunning people for money, or sexual immorality. She rejected all the advise and now those decisions had caused her health problems. See what God said in Deut 30:19. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
You know when Jesus was telling his disciples about the rich man who went to hell and Lazarus the poor man who went to heaven, he said even if God gave some people the opportunity to come from hell and advise people to do the right thing so that they don’t end up in hell, some people will still choose evil. That is why the bible says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked. Sin is enjoyable for a while but the end is always destruction, regret and pain. The problem many people have is that their heart knows what is right and desire to do it, but their bodies do what is wrong, that is why Apostle Paul said that the good he wants to do he cannot to do it, but the evil he does not want to do he finds himself doing it. It is in our DNA to do wrong, that is why no one teaches a child how to be selfish or do wrong things, it comes natural. But good values have to be thought as children cannot learn them automatically.
So the solution is to ask Jesus into your life and ask him for help, he went all the way to the cross to die that we might be saved. If you receive Him and believe in Him you will be saved in Jesus name.
Joshua said in Joshua 24:15. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.
Choosing righteousness is for our own good, we are not doing anyone a favor by doing the right thing. Some day everyone male or female, rich or poor will give an account of their lives to God. So I encourage you to choose life, choose peace, choose truth, choose justice, choose faithfulness, choose love, choose kindness, choose forgiveness. These decisions will navigate your life to the right direction. If you take a look at those people who made wrong choices their end was sad, so why do you want to repeat the same mistakes when you can avoid them by choosing the right thing.
One of the greatest illusion you will have is to think that there are no consequences for your action. Even science will tell you in Newton’s 3rd law of motion that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Some people say I did not have a choice. You always have a choice, choosing to do nothing is still a choice, choosing to accept a difficult situation is still a choice. So choose wisely and you will reap the good benefit, have a blessed day.
