Good day dear listens and welcome to overcoming temptations. I wish you God’s grace and wisdom in Jesus name. Today our topic is titled “Be faithful in little things”
Our bible passage is taken from Mathew 25:20-21. So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them. His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.
I have observed that some many people want to be great and successful, yet they are not prepared to be faithful and committed to little things. If you cannot manage N100 properly it means that you will also be unable to manage N100 million.
I will like to share a real life experience encountered by our foundation. For several years we have been involved in helping prostitutes to reorganize their life and leave prostitution. I will to speak on 4 ladies or prostitutes that have been followed up in the past one year. To conceal their identity I will simply refer to them as lady A, lady B, lady C and lady D. When we started evangelizing to prostitutes we thought that their most important problem was finance or money and that if someone could help them they will leave prostitution. Well from our experience with discovered that weak character rather than money is the major reason for prostitution. So let me start with lady A, she is about 18 years old, we met her in one of the big Nigerian cities, we initially pretended to patronize her then found a way of talking to her about Christ. She thinks that we are not serious so plays along, and tries to seduce, eventually she breaks and desires to give her life to Christ, which she has already done before for about 3 times. The Lady claims that she had a boyfriend whom she fell in love with as a young girl and got pregnant. The boy promised marriage but never married her, being richer than her, the boys family took the Child and she left alone because the boy also jilted her and left for another girl friend. In frustration and confusion she meets some friends who tell her that she can earn money from prostitution, so she decided to join them.
So we took lady A and accommodated her temporarily with one of our devoted Christian sisters. We had a spiritual programme with her, which involved several days of prayers and fasting. After series of discussions with her, we all concluded that she will go back to school, learn how to make hair and start a business of selling women’s things to sustain herself. We gave her money to commence her training in hair making and also sufficient money as capital to start her business and return back to her own town.
Once in a while we called her to follow up and she assured us that all was well. Recently we decided to confirm her real status, so we called her and pretended to be one of her old customers, first we were shocked when she told us that she was in the big city and not in the town she had initially told us, secondly she was willing to patronize us, so she told us where she was and we decided to drive over there. We parked afar off and behold, there she was on the street, in her skimpy clothes flagging men down to pick her. So we decided to approach her, when she saw us she was shocked and denied doing anything but that she only came to hang out with her friends. We told her that she could tell that to the marines, but that we had been observing her and knew she was back to the streets. So we picked her up and went back to counsel her, she said that she was doing well, but later she had a boyfriend and this distracted her from serving God, then her brother had some problems, she had to spend all the money in solving her brothers problems. Anyway the summary is that she was back to the streets.
Before I conclude on lady A, will tell you of the other ladies B,C and D in the next episode.
Have a blessed day and be faithful in little things.
